Shane has always been drawn to stories—whether creating adventures for his G.I. Joes, moving overseas to foreign lands as a pro basketball player, or listening to tales of his father’s travels from Jamaica to the segregated south in America, writing became his way of making sense of it all.

During the pandemic, as the world shut down, Shane delved deeply into his craft, writing scripts, songs, and poetry. As the pandemic raged on, affecting many in its wake, it also challenged the resolve of relationships, inspiring Shane to write a song called 'Drifting'. Powerful lyrics about breaking up and describing the memories that follow. On the advice of his cousin, Juno Award winner Dave ‘Mista’ Murray, Shane wrote the short film titled ‘Drifting’ based on his song. A romantic drama that asks, "Can we ever truly fall out of love?" Following a common trend of crafting art from personal experiences, Shane drew inspiration from his childhood, often being reminded of his differences. A reality that sparked a lifelong awareness of racism, social bias, and a deep curiosity about the true meaning of equality. Deeply affected by the murder of Trayvon Martin, and while the world felt like it was burning, Shane tempered his frustration by writing 'The Disenfranchised', a bold look at race and social inequality.

Presently, Shane is penning a feature film about a biracial couple navigating love and prejudice.

For Shane, storytelling isn’t just about entertainment—it’s about purpose. He writes to reflect, challenge personal biases, and hopefully, make a difference.
