Driven by his immense imagination, making characters come to life is Shane’s superpower. Shane remembers being mesmerized watching his sister on stage in the play, Anne of Green Gables, which inspired him to follow suit. With encouragement from his mother and sister, at the tender age of 6, he stepped on stage performing in the play, Joseph and the Technicolour Dream Coat. Although his passion was for sports, watching movies and studying characters became second nature. A suggestion from a friend prompted Shane to sign up for drama class. Shane’s athletic commitments limited his time in the classroom affecting his marks greatly. Understanding the reasons behind it, Shane’s teacher offered him an opportunity to salvage his year by performing a monologue in front of the class.

Shane’s monologue of a suicidal teenager garnered the praises from his classmates and drew the attention of his teacher, encouraging Shane to consider studying drama in the future. Since retiring from professional basketball, Shane continues to pursue a career as an actor, performing in shows and movies such as, A Knights War and CW’s Izombie. He attributes much of his success to his family and a teacher who believed in Shane’s ability and creativity of developing characters and building stories.
